Things to Do On North Bay Island
Scuba Diving: If your age and fitness allows you, then scuba diving is one of the most exhilarating experiences of the world. The off-season and on-season rates vary from Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 per head (for 1 dive). The rate includes equipment rent cost and certification from Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).
Snorkeling: Snorkeling is one of the most convenient and rewarding ways to explore undersea life. Age and fitness is no bar to it. The off-season and on season rates vary from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 3000.
Glass Bottom Boat Ride: In case you want to observe the corals and marine life without entering the water, then you can give a try glass bottom boat ride. The rates vary from Rs 300 per head to Rs 600 per head during off season and on season, respectively.
Under Sea Walk: It is a shallow water activity to experience the undersea world from close quarters. One round of sea walk costs around Rs 3500.
How to Reach
You can reach North Bay Island from Port Blair via ferry. The ferries leave from Marina Park Jetty and take about an hour to each the island. The ferries leave by 9:30 am in the morning and return by 3 pm in the afternoon. The main ferry is not allowed to go close to the shore as they may damage the corals. Hence, passengers are transferred to smaller boats and taken to the island. The ferry service depends on the weather conditions and if the weather conditions are rough, the services are temporarily suspended. The island is closed on Wednesday.
